Poster LED Display: Why 2m Height and 1.875 Pixel Pitch Are Ideal

1. Introduction

Poster LED screen (advertising LED screen) as a new type of intelligent, digital display medium, once introduced by the majority of users generally praise, so what size, what pitch LED poster screen is the best? The answer is 2 meters height, pitch 1.875 is the best. RTLED will answer for you in detail.

2. Why 2m Height is Optimal for LED Poster Display

a. The 2-meter height is carefully designed to align with human average height, ensuring the poster LED display provides a realistic and immersive viewing experience. Most people are around 1.7m tall, while models typically average 1.8m. A 2-meter display allows room for about 20 cm of buffer space, making the figures on screen appear life-sized without the need for resizing or scaling. This 1:1 ratio enhances the sense of presence, making it perfect for marketing and advertising where impact is key.

b. Additionally, this height mirrors traditional advertising formats like roll-up banners, which are also commonly designed to be 2 meters tall. By maintaining this standard size, poster LED display can seamlessly transition from traditional media, displaying the same content files while offering a more dynamic, interactive, and visually appealing medium.

3. Why 1.875 Pixel Pitch is Best for LED display poster

When creating large poster LED display, combining six screens forms a 1920×1080 (2K) resolution, which is the most preferred format due to its 16:9 aspect ratio—offering the best visual experience. This specific pixel pitch ensures an optimal balance between image clarity and cost-efficiency.

RTLED designed each individual poster LED display to have a resolution of 320×1080 pixels. Each display is composed of six LED screen panels, with each cabinet having 320×180 pixels. To maintain the 16:9 golden ratio, the cabinet size was custom-made to be 600×337.5mm, resulting in the 1.875 pixel pitch (600/320 or 337.5/180), which is the most suitable for this setup.

Using a pixel pitch larger than 2.0 would result in insufficient resolution, degrading the visual quality and impacting the playback effect. On the other hand, using a smaller pixel pitch (below 1.8) would result in a resolution higher than 2K, which would require customized content, add complexity, and increase the cost of both the main control card and the entire display system. This would ultimately lead to a significant rise in production costs.

4. Why Not Use 640x480mm  or 640x320mm Cabinets?

According to research on human anatomy, scientists have found that the field of vision for the human eye forms a rectangular shape with an aspect ratio of 16:9. As a result, industries such as television and display manufacturing have adopted this golden ratio to design products, leading to 16:9 being recognized as the golden display ratio. The 16:9 aspect ratio is also the international standard for high-definition television (HDTV), used in countries like Australia, Japan, Canada, and the United States, as well as in satellite television across Europe and in some non-HD widescreen televisions. In 2004, China established its standard for digital high-definition displays, explicitly stating that the screen’s aspect ratio must be 16:9.

In contrast, when using 640×480 LED screen panel  to create a poster LED display, the resulting aspect ratio is 4:3, and when using 640×320 cabinets, the aspect ratio becomes 2:1. Neither of these provides the same visual impact as the 16:9 golden ratio. However, with 600×337.5 cabinets, the aspect ratio perfectly matches 16:9, allowing six poster LED displays to seamlessly form a 16:9 screen when combined.
